Drexel Park Homeowners Association

The annual 2017 Holiday House Tour is a Drexel Park tradition of more than 30 years. It provides an opportunity to look inside private homes at the festive decorations and unique architectural details of these individual houses. There are five homes on this year's tour and some of the highlights are:

  • A large white colonial style home brimming with holiday decorations including Santas, snowmen, nativities, angels and a dozen trees with multiple themes; i.e. fruited, miniature Santa, country Santa, patriotic Santa, Hallmark ornaments,
snowmen, Angel, Victorian, red & white crystal glass, etc. The homeowners of this special home are expecting to downsize in the near future and many of these truly unique decorations (some hand made) may be purchased at very reasonable prices to enhance or expand your Christmas Holiday decor.

  • A classic stone colonial with three tall front gables, built in 1928 with original architectural elements and trim intact. The first floor, consisting of the foyer, entrance hall, living room, dining room, and kitchen will all be on display. The living
room will have a decorated Christmas tree in a blue and silver color scheme, lit by scores of mini-lights. The dining room will be done in red and gold, with hanging colored chains and greenery, lit by a crystal chandelier and mini-lights. The kitchen will be a sparkling green and gold color scheme. The owners' nephews call this home the "Hobbit house"  because of its rounded front door, but the niece says it's a "Hansel and Gretel house" because of its gables.

  • A 1968 stone front center hall colonial, sitting behind a low stone wall, provides a courtyard effect for this classic home. The living room, dining room, family room, and kitchen will feature traditional holiday decorations, including a Christmas
village with model trains. Climb the spiral staircase to the 2nd floor where a guest bedroom with Victorian touches and a charming sewing room will be decked with holiday decor.

  • A stately Southern Colonial built in the late 1920s by a Mr. William Hart with original architectural elements, arched doorways, original crown molding, and inlaid hardwood floors will be decorated in a traditional Christmas style. The first floor will be on display featuring a foyer, an updated kitchen with imported tile and marble, formal dining room with Bradbury & Bradbury walls, a large living room decorated with period antiques, and a wood panel parlor reclaimed and
restored from a South Philly estate.

  • A very classic Drexel Park 2 story stone colonial built in 1941 will present a traditional Christmas experience including decorated trees and wreaths highlighted by red and gold accents. The living room, dining room, paneled library, kitchen and family room will all be on view. Additionally, the “Rathskeller” style basement with beamed ceiling, cement pointed stone walls and weathered wood floor tiled with porcelain will feature a rustic decor, with several sizes of wooden Santas and window sill reindeer.
